What it is
Projects ships with an AI assistant built into the app itself — the floating button you see on any screen. Use it for questions like:
- "What tasks does the Acme project still have open?"
- "Which retainers are about to run out?"
- "Give me this year's project margins"
- "What tickets are assigned to me?"
If you open the assistant from a project's page, the conversation is pinned to THAT project: you don't need to say which one, and questions about tasks, milestones, the team or tickets are already understood to be about it. Open it from any other screen and it's the organization's general assistant, which starts by searching if you ask about a specific project.
How it answers
The assistant reads your data with the same read-only tools an external MCP client uses (see connect an assistant): it never makes up a figure it can't look up, and if your role or your relationship to the project doesn't let you see something, it says so instead of inventing it.
What it does NOT do
The built-in assistant is read-only: it doesn't create tasks, change their status, log dedication or open tickets. For those, use the app directly or an MCP client connected with your account (which does offer them, with your explicit confirmation before running).
Where to go next
- Connect an assistant — if you'd rather use Claude, ChatGPT or another external client, with the same tools plus the ones that act.
